FILED IN: RETREATS / WORKSHOPS
In September 2024, we hosted our sixth photography retreat in the breathtaking Grand Lake, Colorado; it was truly one for the books! With eight attendees, we spent three full days of education, community building, and hands-on shooting experiences that left everyone feeling inspired and creatively recharged.
Our retreat included six incredible photoshoots that offered a variety of styles and settings. From an intimate micro wedding to adventurous elopements, a timeless bridal session, and two laid-back couples sessions, the attendees had the opportunity to build their portfolios with stunning work.
As with all our retreats, we ensured that every photoshoot felt like a complete, authentic wedding or elopement experience. Each wedding and elopement shoot included a beautifully designed invitation suite, providing the perfect touch for detail shots. Our in-house hair and makeup artist was on-site, ensuring that all models were camera-ready and giving attendees the opportunity to capture getting ready moments. We also meticulously styled and set up dress and shoe details, creating cohesive galleries that could easily pass as a real client’s wedding day. This attention to detail allows attendees to leave with polished, story-driven galleries that enhance their portfolios and attract dream clients.
The shoots took place in some of Colorado’s most iconic locations. We explored the rugged beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park, took advantage of the rustic charm of Grand Lake Lodge, and capped it off with an epic session at Loveland Pass, right on the Continental Divide. The diversity of scenery and styles made this retreat an unforgettable experience, blending education with the natural beauty of Colorado.
This photography retreat wasn’t just about capturing stunning photos—it was also about learning how to do so responsibly. We dedicated time to teaching attendees how to obtain the necessary permits for shooting in protected areas like national parks and other public lands. Following Leave No Trace principles was a key part of our curriculum, ensuring that everyone left the beautiful landscapes we visited just as pristine as we found them. From respecting wildlife to staying on designated trails, we emphasized the importance of ethical practices that preserve these breathtaking locations for future generations to enjoy.
Hosting these photography retreats is always a rewarding experience, and we’re already looking forward to the next one. If you’ve ever dreamed of leveling up your skills while connecting with a community of like-minded photographers, keep an eye out for what we’re planning next!
